bert the conqueror returns!

This Sunday night, at 8 E/P, Bert the Conqueror returns to Travel Channel.  Bert is an adventurous everyman who travels the United States to experience local roller coaster thrills and unique sporting event.  Bert is kicking off his 2011 season on Sunday with a trip to New England that will include a ride on the Boulder Dash – the only roller coaster built into the side of a cliff – and the annual North American Wife Carrying Championship held in Maine.

This year, Bert has partnered with goby to show viewers how to find adventures in their own back yard and how to win all-expense paid adventures of their own.  In partnership with Bert, goby has created adventure itineraries for every location that Bert is visiting this year and these itineraries are choc full of roller coasters, water parks, odd races, and opportunities to be a dare devil.  Check out the adventure itinerary for Maine, Bert’s first stop, that includes a Pirate race, dog sledding, and skydiving.  The idea is that viewers don’t have to just sit and watch Bert on his adventures – they can get out there and have their own!

To encourage views to get out and experience life in the Bert-Lane, Travel Channel is holding the “Be a Kid Again Sweepstakes” offering a weekly giveaway of $750 gift cards and a grand prize of a trip for 4 to San Francisco and Catalina Island.  Every week, Bert will broadcast a game code.  Viewers who enter the game code into in the “Be a Kid Again Sweepstakes” site will be entered to win a weekly – and entered to win the grandprize.
