Taking design cues from Scout for Browsers and Scout.me, the new look of Scout is streamlined and just so easy on the eyes. The new dashboard features a better map, instant access to your recent drives, favorite and location sharing.

Offline maps so you never lose sight of your destination, wherever you are.

Android users can now download maps so they too have Always There Navigation when they need it most.

Maps can be downloaded by three regions, but only one at a time. The regions include western, central and easier.

Offline maps is available for premium users ($4.99/month or $24.99/year)

Share your arrival status in real time with OnMyWay®.

This is a great way to let someone know you are on your way without having to send texts or make calls while driving – whether it’s a friend that you are meeting for happy hour or a spouse who wants to know what time you will be home.

• Real-time ETA sharing lets others know when you’ll be there and enables them to see your real-time progress on a map as you drive.
• You can also set up ETA auto sharing. For added convenience, prepopulated contacts will get ETA notifications when you navigate to Home or Work.

Waypoint 2013 has come and gone – and this year’s conference was full of intelligent and intriguing discussions about navigation technology. The annual conference was held in San Francisco, where Telenav hosted a group of influential tech journalists and analysts from across the country to talk about the future of mobile and in-car navigation.

In the above video, Waypoint 2013 attendees discuss their first impressions of the event and their views on the future of navigation.

Telenav made several announcements at Waypoint 2013, including map improvements such as new 3D buildings and crowd-sourced traffic data, as well as an update to it’s “Scout for Cars: Built In” product. The Scout Advertising team also shared the results of an in-depth study that details consumer driving behaviors.

Waypoint 2013 is almost here! On Monday, April 15, we host a group of influential tech journalists and bloggers from across the country for a 2-day event in San Francisco. How to Use the New Features

Calendar Sync

Calendar Integration syncs with your existing calendar and allows Scout to help you navigate to your appointment by launching right into voice-guided navigation. Scout automatically syncs with your calendar each time you launch the app.

How does it work?

1. A reminder from your calendar for your next appointment pops up with a Scout alert asking you if you’d like use Scout to get to your destination.

2. A click on the Scout alert launches voice-guided navigation that gets you on your way!

OnMyWay®

With OnMyWay, you let others track your real-time progress on a map, alleviating the need for distracting phone calls and text messages on your status. You can share your location with friends and family via text message.

OnMyWay also lets you to set up prepopulated alerts with assigned recipients, like a spouse or your kids, any time you launch a route to home or work.

To share your real-time ETA:

1. Tap the “Home” button on My Dashboard.
2. Next, on the “Route Planning” screen, check the “Share ETA” box and tap “Drive.”

Great news, everyone! We’ve released an update for Scout for iPhone with new features designed to make it simple to connect and share your trips with friends and family.

NEW FEATURE: Make it easy to meet up with a friend with Location Sharing & Turn-by-Turn Navigation without an App

Traditionally, when making plans to meet somewhere with a friend, the following series of steps are usually taken:

1. You mutually agree on a place to meet
2. Off the phone, both you and your friend do a quick online search to confirm the address of the place you’ll be meeting at.
3. Next, once the location has been confirmed, you both pull out your phone
4. Next, you open up your navigation app
5. You then type into the app the destination’s address
6. Then you start the drive

Seems like a lot of steps across a lot of different tools for a simple task, right?

We thought so too and that’s why the first feature we’ve added to Scout for iPhone makes it easy to share any address, place, or event with anyone – and then navigate there without a navigation app.

To share an address or place with a friend from within Scout, just:

1. Find the place you want to share and tap the “Share” button
2. Decide how you would like to share it: Email, Text, or on Facebook

When your friend opens it in their Android, iPhone or Windows 8 device, they’ll then be given turn by turn, voice-guided navigation to that place – without having to download any app. From within their phone’s web-browser (i.e. Safari, Google Chrome, etc.), a navigation route from their current position to the shared destination will be created and all they have to do to get there is hit “Drive.”

When clicked from within the Facebook mobile app, a navigation session will start directly in the app. Easy peasy.

NEW FEATURE: On your way home? Share your ETA with your loved ones!

In this new version of Scout for iPhone, we’ve also added a way for you to quickly share your estimated time of arrival to home, work or any location with friends and family members.

To send an ETA to someone, follow these steps:

1. Hit the “Home” button on My Dashboard.
2. Next, on the “Route Planning” screen, check the “Share ETA” box and tap “Drive.”
3. You’ll then be brought to a message screen which you can send to anyone in your contacts, including family and friends.

If you want, you can even activate automatic alerts so that any time you launch a navigation route to home or work, your ETA is instantly sent to a desired recipient like your wife, husband, or kids.

Other recent updates to Scout for iPhone include a totally refreshed “My Dashboard,” as well as a new “things to do” menu, which makes discovering local events and activities like live music shows, sporting events, and kids activities, quick and easy.
